Many May Birthdays and a Wedding Shower

One of my Sunday School class members had a wedding shower recently and this is the card I came up with for the occasion. I thought it turned out quite elegant, and I love the verse inside.

Then it seemed there was one birthday after another in the month of May. These are some of the cards I made to send out for the May birthdays. And the month is not over yet. I still have a few more to go.

I love this crimped envelope design. A friend demonstrated this technique at a stamping group I belong to.

Here is a flower my friend Trish showed me how to make using 8 scallops. I used white cardstock, inking the ends in pink passion. Spray a bit of water on the scallops and crumple them up into spitballs. Then straighten them out, layer all eight and attach with a brad. Spread out and "walla" you have a beautiful flower. I added the leaves from Stampin Up's Bird on a Branch for an added touch.

Well until next time, it's back to the craft table. I've got to get busy on 3 sets of ATC's for some swaps I'm in, as well as a few more cards.

April Fool's Day

I can't believe March is over already. Time sure is going fast. I've been busy the last couple of days working on my income tax............grrr! Now that IRS has been sent their money I can get back to playing. LOL! I just purchased a Tim Holtz Vagabond and am so ready to create. I did manage to squeeze in time to make one card though.

The background was embossed with the square lattice embossing folder. The circle is decorated with a ruffled ribbon and the little girl is colored with copic markers (which I am just beginning to learn how to use.) The sentiment was cut out with the Spellbinders fancy tags and embellished with 2 half pearls which I colored with my copic marker to match the paper.

Wow, I just realized how much I've neglected posting to my blog. Time to catch up a bit. I've been so busy the last year participating in ATC swaps and different stamping and groups, that I
have tons of projects to show off.

These are a few of the cards I've had fun with. Most of my creations come from copying other peoples' designs and I really appreciate so many people sharing their different techniques . I have only begun to scratch the surface.

Fiskateer 5 Day Online Crop

I am having so much fun with the latest Fiskateer online crop. It started on Saturday and will be going for 5 days. I haven't been able to enter all the challenges, but have had fun participating
in a few. The Fiskateer leads are awesome. They are presently attending CHA in California, so this crop has been hosted by some of our FOY's (Fiskateer of the Year) as well as other members who have jumped right in and offered prizes.

Where Has the Summer Gone?

Wow, I can't believe it's been so long since I've updated my Blog. Let me see if I can catch up a bit. Ok, first of all the big event for the month of June was my trip to Washington, DC which was totally awesome. There was so much to see, a lot of walking, a lot of steps to climb.....but it was well worth it. We got to sit in on a session of the House of Representatives in the Capital Building.

President Obama was a little too busy to have us for afternoon tea, but we got some awesome pictures of the White House. We visited museums, cathedrals and cemeteries. There was so much to see and so little time.

I got back just in time to pack for my two week vacation stay on the beach in July. Yes, it was off to Treasure Island, FL for some fun in the sun. I got to relax with my grandchildren, nieces, and other family members, as well as see some old friends.

I got back from vacation just in time to head over to Orlando to the Fiskar's 360th Birthday Celebration, which was held at Epcot in Disney World. We had an absolute blast. Fiskars knows how to throw a party. We had a scavenger hunt, an enormous goody bag full of Fiskar product. We did make and takes. We had an excellent dinner, followed by a big birthday party. The night was topped off with a Fireworks show. It was so great to meet some of the other fiskateers who enjoy doing scrapbooking and cards as much as I do.

And we all know the old saying....."All good things must come to an end." Well, I got a phone call saying my 80 year old Mom had fallen out of her wheelchair and broken her femur. Needless to say my last few days have been filled with going to and from the hospital. After 12 days, though, she has progressed enough to be moved to a rehab facility. God is so good.

I have great hopes that I might be getting back to some scrapbooking in the near future; but time can only tell.

Off to the Capitol

Hello everyone, I am getting ready for a trip. My niece's 5th grade safety patrols are going on a trip to Washington, DC and I'm accompanying my brother as a chaperone. I know it's not gonna be "ALL" fun and games, but I'm looking forward to some of our capitol's sites that I've never seen before and I'm hoping to come back with lots of pictures to scrapbook. Unfortunately, we actually get to meet our President or tour the Whitehouse.

There will be 492 of us (adults and children) boarding 10 buses at 4 AM Saturday morning. Stopping only for a potty break in Georgia, a box lunch at a South Carolina rest stop, another potty break in North Carolina and a buffet style dinner at Colonial Heights, VA; we will arrive in Woodbridge, VA sometime that evening to check into our hotel.

The next several days we will be on guided tours at a very fast pace. Starting very early in the morning and going on into the evening. Some of the things we are scheduled to see are:

Happy Memorial Day

First of all I'd like to take a moment to give thanks to all of the men and women who have served or have lost their lives serving our country in order for us to continue to have freedom. We owe you so much for your bravery and we will continue to keep all of our troops in prayer.

So many of us have celebrated this holiday weekend in so many different ways. Here's a little bit of what I've been up to.

FRIDAY: Got together with 2 other Fiskateer Friends and made birthday cards. We had so much fun doing this and it's great being able to share new techniques and ideas. A special thanks goes out to my friend Trish who is always an inspiration to us. We all worked on the same cards and it's amazing how different each one came out. Here are mine:

SATURDAY: I worked on some Artist Trading Cards. I am involved in several ATC swaps at the moment and this particular theme is cupcake.

SUNDAY AM: I attended church. Thanks again for our servicemen & women, that we can continue to have freedom to worship.

Went to my Local Scrap Shop (LSS) for a organizational meeting of another ATC swap group. We shared ideas, picked themes ..... 1 a month for 12 months; and worked out the details. Here are some of the themes we will be doing, the first one due the end of June. The last 4 themes will be picked by persons who weren't able to attend this meeting.

SUNDAY PM: Went to Spring Hill to my daughter's house for a family/friends get together and cookout. The kids were all able to take a swim before the rains came, but we all had a great time.

MONDAY: Went shopping with my brother and his family and then enjoyed dinner at Sonny's Barbecue. Hence, this brings me up to now. After completing my Blog Update, I'll be ready to get back to the scrap table and work on my next set of ATC's.

Recent Projects

It's been a couple of weeks since I've updated, so I thought it was time to show you a few things I've been working on since my last Blog.

This is just a fun Hello card

A birthday card for my brother whose birthday is this month.

This is my precious grandson, Joshua. I never get tired of doing layouts of him.

Another layout of Joshua. He loves pushing buttons, so he's always playing with telephone, calculators, TV's, computers or anything else that has a button to push.

This was just a fun layout of me and some of my girlfriends. On their last visit, we all went to Homosassa Springs Wildlife Attraction. We all had our pictures taken behind the manatee.

I also took plenty of photos of the wild life, which will be shown in future layouts.

May is National Scrapbooking Month

This past weekend has been such fun. May 1st was National Scrapbooking Day, so all weekend crafting sites and blogs were offering challenges. Online crops were going on everywhere, and RAKS (Random Acts of Kindess) were plentiful.

There is something about challenges that gets my creative juices flowing. Maybe it's the pressure of someone giving me a deadline. But anyway, I got a lot of scrapping done and am motivated to do even more this week.

Here are some of the challenges I entered.

#1. A Bee-utiful Challenge (My subject for this layout, was my grandson and his bee-utiful eyes.)

#3. I Have to Have Some Sewing (I hand stitched around my photos, sewed on a button and laced a button through the title.)

#4. Scrappy Scrap Challenge (Make a layout using old scraps)

#5. Gorgeous Gallery-Times Two (You had to scraplift someone's layout from the gallery). This one was fun, as I used a picture of one of my friend's decorated sneaker in my layout.)

#6. Sunday Morning Challenge (Make a layout using old items that you never seem to use any more. I dug out all my old stickers, paper borders, and foamies.)

#7. Card Tag / Combo (pretty self explanatory)

#8. Show your Fiskars Pride Challenge

I love online crops and can't wait to find some more challenges. In the meantime, I have plenty of pictures I need to be placing on layouts and I ready to create. Thanks for visiting my Blog.

Music

Hi All,

It's been awhile since I've updated this so here goes. I've been pretty busy making ATC cards, a few Easter cards, etc., which I will post here soon. But today I'd like to talk about another form of art...MUSIC.

Music has always been a big part of our family life. We cover all genres, from country western to chamber music. Of course, my total favorite is "The Blues." My oldest daughter was in the Madrigals during her high school years, and even travelled to Europe and France for the Bournemouth Music Festival. I was fortunate to attend (as a chaperone) and was so proud of her. She has a beautiful voice. My husband played tenor saxophone (in his younger days ) and is also quite good on the piano. As for me..........................I CAN'T CARRY A TUNE IN A PAPER BAG! but I still love music. I've been watching my youngest grandson (16 mos. old) and he loves to listen to music and loves to dance. He has grown attached a You Tube Video called "Pipe Dreams" by Animusic and literally climbs up in my computer chair each day so I can turn it on for him. It has a fantastic beat and Grandma thinks it's pretty cool too.

Can't wait to do some more scrapbook layouts of this little cutie. Until next time, happy scrapping and come back soon.

Play Dates

I just can't believe how many people are into scrapbooking and card making. I had the pleasure of meeting the sweetest lady at our LSS when I began attending the monthly midnight crop. Yes, Trish, I'm talking about you. She has since joined us on the "Fiskateer Site" as well. Anyway, she invited me and my sister in law to her home for a play date. Now we have been getting together with her at least once a month and she has taught us so many great techniques. We got together last night and took another friend too. Here are 3 cards she showed us how to make last night. We had such fun.

I also did a layout this week for a challenge on the Fiskateer Board.......spring flowers. I featured my two sweet nieces with their lovely smiles.

I might have a chance to do just a little more "playing" this afternoon. But I fear after that, I must get to some housecleaning, laundry, and all those other chores I've been neglecting the past few days.

Christmas in February

So far February has been an awesome month for me. I feel like it's Christmas all over again. First of all I won an online crop challenge from Fiskateers and got an awesome prize package of wonderful Fiskars products.

On Feb. 2, I visited a friend of mine who taught me how to make an awesome fold up book. This is what it looks like. I haven't decorated the cover yet or added pictures.

This same friend had a Stampin' Up Party and I must say I loaded up on some neat stamps, inks and Bigz Die Cuts.

On Feb. 6, I attended our monthly midnight crop party at our local scrap store, "Scrap & Stamp Studio." I worked on various ATC (Artist Trading Cards) for some swaps I'm involved in. Of course, I couldn't leave the shop without purchasing a few more goodies.

On Feb. 7, some friends of mine (former co-workers) came up from out of town and brought me some belated birthday and Christmas gifts. I collect cows, so most of it was cow related. Here are a few.

Then we went to lunch together at "The Gator Cove," and visited the Homosassa Springs Wildlife Attraction. We had a great day!

That afternoon I received a wonderful package of crafting goodies from my Secret Sister from the Fiskateer Community. She was so sweet, she even included a package of treats for my kitties.

Next.....let me share... that the town we live in is kind of country, so there isn't much shopping and entertainment locally. So on Feb. 8, when my brother and his family invited us to go to Ocala, which is big city to us.....we said okay. It was a terrific day, beginning with breakfast together at Bob Evans, then on to my favorite stores JoAnn's, Michael's, Staples & Walmart. Of course, I had to purchase some craft supplies from each place. Lastly we stopped at the Verizon Wireless Phone Store, so my brother could upgrade his phone.........................and..........drum roll please....my husband upgraded my phone to a "BLACKBERRY STORM." It is awesome.

Okay, so Feb. 9, I spent playing with my Blackberry and discovering all the wonderful features it can do. That evening I got on the computer and found out that I had won another challenge on Fiskateers. The challenge was to visit an elderly person, give them a valentine and take a picture of you together. Jeannie, the fiskateer who sponsored this RAK (random act of kindness) had her daughter draw a name from all the persons who entered and my name was drawn. Here is my entry of my 80 year old Mom holding her valentine, Mom & I together and a picture of my grandson, her great grandson....reading a story.

This is the spectacular prize package and I can't wait to get it.

Anniversary

Today is mine and my hubby's anniversary. I can't believe we've been married for 33 years.

I can't say all 33 years have been a bed of roses, but the longer we stay together, the closer we get. I'm thinking we are both mellowing in our old age. LOL! We have settled into a comfortable routine.

Where Has the Time Gone?

Wow, I can't believe it's the 15th of January already. It seems as though I just took my Christmas tree down yesterday. LOL!

Okay, the last time I was on here I posted pictures of the way my scrap area looked. What a mess. I have been working diligently trying to organize and move all my crafting materials into one room. My guest room now serves a double purpose....a bed for an overnight guest to sleep and my "scrapbook room." These are my "AFTER" pictures. What do you think?

I have all my tubs labeled. My equipment is all easily accessible and by storing my punches and stamps in the over the door shoe holders...I can find what I'm looking for quickly. My laptop, TV and Cricut are on top of a credenza, which provides me with additional storage.

Here we are beginning a brand new year. I am hoping to be even more creative in 2009.

I've started off by trying to "organize" my craft supplies. Here are a few BEFORE pictures of my area now. As you can see I've spread out all over my diningroom and office area. My goal is to rearrange my spare bedroom and move all my stuff into that area. I've purchased some tubs, etc. that I hope will get me better orgainized.
